The Pantone colour of the year – how to style Mocha Mousse

After a nervous wait, that time of year has finally rolled around once more. It's officially Pantone season!

Whether you're a close watcher of interior design trends, planning some home improvement, or just interested in design, now is the time to take advantage of the new season, and get creative.

After 2024's choice of Peach Fuzz, a soft, velvety colour that 'invites that warm, fuzzy feeling', the choice for 2025 is a rich, warm hue, perfect for evoking a cosy atmosphere at home.

But what does this all mean? And how can you style this colour in your interior design? We'll be covering this, and more here.

What does the Pantone colour of the year mean?

The Pantone Color Institute first released a colour of the year in 1999, to engage the creative world, interior designers, and other colour enthusiasts in a meaningful conversation about colour, and the impact that it can have on culture, design, and the wider community.

Since then, a new colour has been revealed each year, from hot pink to calming green. And from fashion to interiors, these colours take on a new life as they gain popularity, influence, and even notoriety.

The Pantone colours from previous years

If you're curious about colour, you might already know the previous iterations, but if not, you can find the most recent choices here:

What is Pantone's colour of the year 2025?

2025's colour is Mocha Mousse, a colour both rich and warm. More than this, it's a colour that can be incorporated into interior design beautifully, from feature walls to kitchen cabinets.

Unlike some of the previous choices, Mocha Mousse can act as a neutral, creating a luxurious yet comforting feeling throughout the home.

How to incorporate Pantone Colour 2025 into your home

From furniture to wall paint, it is easy to take advantage of the latest trending hue and elevate your interior design. As lovers of interiors, here at Zip we've spent some time considering how to weave the latest 'It girl' of colour into your home.

Add some warmth to your kitchen design

The kitchen is the heart of the home, and a warm, inviting atmosphere will put you at ease and create a sanctuary for you, your guests, and your family.

A statement feature wall in the shade of the year will bring warmth to a cold space while blending with your existing decor.

The beauty of a more neutral shade is that it works across many different styles and spaces.

For example, combining Mocha Mousse with classic black accessories and countertops gives a classic, pared-back finish, while blending with brushed chrome hardware creates more of a contrast.

If you are looking to combine the colour of the year with futuristic technology, HydroTap is available in a range of seven different finishes, including Matt Black, and Brushed Chrome, both of which integrate perfectly with the warm tones in Mocha Mousse.

Add in the options for filtered chilled, boiling, and sparkling water on tap, and before you know it, your kitchen will be the inviting, cosy space of your dreams.

A touch of luxury in your living room

Away from the kitchen, there are countless ways to incorporate the colour of the year into your home. From scatter cushions to statement lighting, bed linen, and even wallpaper, you can take advantage of Mocha Mousse across your home, in whatever way you choose.

In the living room, snug, or lounge, evoking a cosy atmosphere with natural materials and colours is easily achieved with warm browns, beiges, and ambers. In your dining room, something as simple as your tableware, or candlesticks can provide a pop of Mocha Mousse – combine this with a striking HydroTap on a matching font, in brushed gold, and the warmth of summer will never feel far away.

Blend with complementary colours

As a true neutral, Mocha Mousse can be styled with colours already within your home, from floral pastels, to beige and black, to create an interior that is as unique as you are.

We're especially enjoying the combination of the new Pantone Colour of the Year with more floral palettes, for example, soft rose gold. As one of our seven finishes, a brushed rose gold HydroTap can be combined with the soft richness of Mocha Mousse with the gentle decadence of brushed rose gold hardware creating a beautiful harmony.

And the beauty doesn't have to stop there. HydroTap can be installed away from the sink, in any room you desire, allowing you endless design possibilities.

Mocha Mousse is the perfect tone to really experiment with colour, texture, and furniture. Play it safe with small pops of colour, or go bold and try colour washing.

But what if it's just not for you? Your home design should be personal to you, and should ultimately make you happy. If this year's colour just isn't for you, it doesn't have to be.
