Rebecca Wakefield's HydroTap Celsius Arc in brushed gold
Owner of interior design company Studio Fortnum, Rebecca Wakefield is no stranger to being briefed on all manner of interior design and architecture. Specialising in understated, modern, relaxed living spaces, Rebecca’s portfolio is a stunning array of calming wall colours, comfortable areas to relax and thoughtfully considered artwork. Rebecca and her partner have been gradually renovating their own home. The kitchen was a key part of the house renovation, which they bought as a dilapidated shell in 2016, undergoing a full refurbishment to create a light, airy and calming home
The brief
“The kitchen was in desperate need of some TLC,” comments Rebecca. “We wanted a bright, family-friendly space with an island but I also wanted to use a fresh and interesting palette. We chose green for the kitchen units with brass accents and wood tones.” When it comes to kitchen appliances, Rebecca has definitely noticed a common theme among her clients, “genuinely, the number one luxury, top of the wish list item is a boiling water tap,” she says. “However it was only when we were doing our kitchen that I started to consider how much we’d benefit from one - certainly when it comes to the convenience of having a cuppa, or more importantly, bedtime milk for our toddler, in a matter of seconds!”
The solution
One thing that Rebecca was keen on was to get a tap that fitted in well with the brass colour scheme. “Zip have been on my radar for a while, so I was thrilled to discover the tap comes in brushed gold,” she continues. “But I know from experience that style can often outweigh performance and there’s nothing worse than something that looks great but just doesn’t work. Luckily Zip is a trusted brand so we chose the Zip HydroTap Celsius Arc.” Rebecca’s Celsius Arc is much more than just a boiling water tap, providing unfiltered hot and cold water alongside filtered boiling. “Because it is my regular kitchen tap as well as my boiling water tap the kitchen has retained a clean, minimal feel,” adds Rebecca. “My counter tops aren’t cluttered and we have no use for a slow-to-boil kettle. It really has transformed daily life for us.”
